I believe that in the year 2011 the difference between what is school appropriate and what is mainstream popular culture is miles and miles apart. This crevice of questionable content, leaves students and newer teachers in the difficult position of interacting with old learning material while wrestling with contemporary issues. Should we as a society embrace the new, lesser sensitivized versions of popular culture, or shall we adhere to the older more traditional sensibilities of culture?
I believe it would be smarter to embrace the new versions of pop Culture because that is just how the rest of us see the world. We are no longer just that family of the 50's that plays board games and watch tv shows together. we now play video games with violence and drugs and watch movie that can be very very racy to what our schools accept today.
ReplyDeleteindeed these ideas are very shallow and pedantic....the predicament is often skewed by extremists of either side. A middle ground must be found, keeping the foundation true to its core, but adding new elements to it.
ReplyDeleteyou use confusing grammar.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question. I believe that we should embrace the new version just because people would want to learn the new one of the old. Now not every single person would choose the new version. I myself would embrace the new version even if it was hard to learn.
ReplyDeleteWell, in this day and age I believe we have to embrace new language and websites. In many cases we have to use somewhat inappropriate sources to complete our projects. Each teacher should have their own rules that resemble the school's rules but with differences because each class needs different sources. I believe as a student and a legal adult I have the right to look at inappropriate material as long as it's still school appropriate for certain ages.
ReplyDeletewell to start off with...wow!! YOU ARE A NERD!!!
ReplyDeletebut to answer your question i would say go with the new ways! yes still learn the same old boring stuff but if you use todays new technology you could learn in a better, more interesting, and fun way!
Well someone loves to use big words and sound smart! I think that we should go along with the new languages and websites. If we are stuck in the stone age, we wont know how the world works and everything in it!
ReplyDeletewow...okay..well I would also have to say to improve our technology. Yes, it's neat to know how people lived and did things in the past, but it's good for us to learn with the advanced technology we have!
ReplyDeleteI beleive it is smart to use todays pop culture and use the new technologys that are here for us today. Why would we stay with the old ways and act like munks and sit inside and eat rice and act like the world is a great place to live. I believe that kids should be able to do whatever they want. Power to the people!!
ReplyDeleteWe should be able to use any website needed to get the job done, no matter what!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that the newer teachers that come in from a different school has to try and teach materials that they havent taught before or that the students have learned from a different way. It would be hard on the teacher to learn the old materials that the students may already know. I think that the pop culture today is better than the pop culture back then because theres alot more of it and its also way more interesting.
ReplyDeleteI think we should use todays new technology because kids our age will understand better than teaching the older traditions. To face facts, we are entering a more modern world than what was 30 years ago.
